6 Back-Pocket Outfits For Last-Minute Dates

HELLO! Hope you had a great day????Dinner and a movie: It's standard. But, truthfully, I find traditional date night...kind of overrated. All the pomp and circumstance we give to these outings — while sometimes necessary (hello, first dates) can make them feel incredibly contrived. So, instead of overhyping, I'm ditching the fuss and embracing spontaneity this weekend. And, this includes sportier outings like mini golf and baseball games as well as daytime to-dos like brunch or artsy ones like gallery hopping.
Weekend plans still up in the air? Shoot the object of your affection a text and propose a less expected rendezvous. I've admit these aren't the craziest ideas ever, but, hey, they probably aren't your go-to — and that's a good thing, in our opinion. Ahead, I've crafted six back-pocket looks that won’t make you feel like a try-too-hard. Will your date be as cute as your outfit? Here’s hoping.

Baseball Game
Maybe you and your special someone have a long-standing Yankees-versus-Red Sox rivalry. Or, perhaps neither of you is really invested in the sport beyond eating hot dogs, drinking beer, and partaking in the spectacle of it all. Wherever you fall, the lively atmosphere basically guarantees a good time. Kiss cam, anyone? (Feel free to replicate this date model for soccer, hockey, basketball, and so on.)

Movie Night In The Park
For an evening at an outdoor film screening, ditch those strappy heels and kick it with a pair of easy slip-on Vans instead, after all, your feet might want to flirt with the grass at some point. Pair your metallic sneaks with a graphic crop tank and billowing neutral culottes for a look that is sure to be more quirky chic than the rom-com heroine you're rooting for.

Romantic Night
Who says a romantic evening can't be achieved from inside your apartment? Cook some pasta, drink wine, and enjoy each other's company away from all those outside influences. And, keep your outfit relaxed — this is a great opportunity to break out a sexy nightie or slip dress. Then, catch up on The Walking Dead together, gaze lovingly into each other's eyes, or simply have a conversation. It doesn't have to be that complicated, people.

Gallery Hopping
These occasions usually require a slightly more avant-garde dress code. Consider this an opportunity to experiment. Try an artfully printed, see-through crop top, like this below, teamed with an emerald midi-skirt and lacy bralette. Pair it with candy-wrapper-style silver pumps and a perforated crossbody for an ensemble that's just as eye-catching as the art on display.

Mini Golf Evoke those childhood memories with a good game of mini golf — really, this is as playful a date. Relax, cropped jeans and a cool camisole layered over a white tee says, "I'm here to have a good time, but I don't take myself too seriously." Pretty perfect, I'd say.

Sunday Brunch
There's something about a daytime date that tends to make people anxious. Like, somehow things will go terribly wrong without the dim lighting and presence of alcohol. If you're of this mindset, then a brunch date is the perfect compromise for you and your dining companion. Mimosas will no doubt be involved, and you'll now also have a chance to show off your polished, day-to-day style.

14 Things You Will Find In EVERY Fashion Girl Apartment

HELLO FRIENDS! WELCOME TO A GREAT MONTH! You may say you love fashion. You may get street-style snapped during the runway shows and know Zara's sale schedule better than your morning commute. But, the real expression of your devotion lies in your home. Home, after all, is that tell-tell sacred place where our real tastes kind of explode. Only in privacy do the truly aesthetically obsessed organize makeup in lucite trays and keep heels on floating shelves. Well, "privacy" is all relative these days, because we can keep up with all the curation trends and habits via Instagram. While some are overplayed (you know your shoes spend most of their time piled on the floor) others are far-reaching (who doesn't curate their coffee table stacks?). And, one is an instant red flag that you're part of the club: A black-and-white palette, with a few Chanel logos casually scattered about. Ahead, 14subtle hints you could just be a #fashionjunkie.

Conspicuous Flokati Rug
"Oh, you mean this sheepskin rug? The one I so casually draped over my Eames chair? It's #nbd."

  Just-For-Show Athletic Shoes
C'mon — nobody's using those sneakers for any actual working out. You're not fooling anyone here.

Repurposed Bar Carts
Without a real living room, where else were we supposed to put all those coffee-table books?

Layered Photos (& Mirrors!)
Don't have enough wall space for your tasteful "For Like Ever" poster? No problem! Just layer it along with two or three similarly framed mirrors or art pieces.

Cow-Hide Rug
A newer iteration of the Flokati and leopard trends, the cow-hide rug (preferably of the faux variety) is a must have in living and dining rooms.

"Sporting" Goods On Display
This Céline-inspired skateboard doesn't even have wheels!

 Token Smythson Notebook
Anyone who's anyone has one

Coffee Table Stacks
Bonus points for keeping 'em all neutral. Tom Ford and Chanel? Obviously

John Derian Plates
Sure, it all started with the designer's initial plates, but you've upgraded to other, more original motifs, thankyouverymuch.

Matching Boutique Hangers
I'm not sure if this makes you a fashion girl, or just an actual adult. Spacing them out evenly though, that's another story.

Shoes On Bookshelves
You may have hundreds of tomes, but they're delegated to below-the-bed storage to make room for the real pieces of work.

Peonies, Of Course
Peonies spontaneously placed on vanities and side tables — the flower of the year.

The Ghost Chair
It's the ideal place to hang all of the dresses you tried on this morning, but decided weren't going to cut it. Well-staged animal, another bonus.

 Neatly Arranged Products
Doesn't everyone organize their Chanel compacts in lucite trays?

The Ultimate No-Fuss Pizza Recipe

Sometimes there's just nothing better than a little piece of homemade heaven and I'm not talking about throwing a frozen pie in the oven. Trust, this dish is so simple, You can use your ovens as additional storage to pull it off without a hitch. Buon Appetito!

Cavalo Nero Pizza
Serves 1
Ingredients
225 g of pizza dough (store bought, usually found in the freezer section)
3 cloves garlic, sliced thin
4 cups chopped kale
1/2 lemon (juice only)
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
6 grape tomatoes, cut in half
2 oz guanciale (sliced thin, like bacon)
3 tbsp of buffalo ricotta (or regular whole fat ricotta)
2 oz buffalo mozzarella (or fresh mozzarella)
Instructions
1. Mix the kale, lemon juice, and olive oil together. Set aside for at least 15 minutes.
2. Pre-heat oven to 500ºF. Stretch or roll out the pizza dough as thin as possible without making any holes. Work with a well-floured surface to insure that the dough does not stick.
3. Sprinkle the sliced garlic onto the pizza dough. Break up the buffalo mozzarella with your hands, and distribute evenly. Arrange the ricotta in small clumps in spaces of the dough where the mozzarella is not covering.
4. Add the marinated kale and sprinkle the tomatoes over the top. Evenly arrange the guanciale.
5. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the guanciale is a little crisp. Crack some fresh black pepper over the top, and serve immediately.

4 Foolproof Ways To Keep Your Curls In Check

Many curlies have a range of different curl patterns and textures in their hair  and not just one type of curl. The multiple textures can cause a curly girl to be confused and unsure of the proper hair care for them. These textures can be difficult to manage and make you realize that certain things may not work for certain textures of your hair. The following tips can help you better manage the multiple textures in your hair.
Pay attention to texture
This can help you realize what type of care those various textures will need, leading to the best hair care regimen for your curls. Paying attention to what your hair needs can help you learn more about your hair, while neglecting certain textures that you’re not familiar with can cause damage to your hair. Familiarizing yourself with your hair's multiple textures will help you learn how to properly take care of your tresses. During moisturizing and detangling sessions, section your hair in manageable sections. This will allow you to pay attention to all areas of the hair and to notice what certain sections need.

Apply product accordingly
Some sections may need a heavier hair product to get the hair to hang and to blend in with loose textures of your hair. Those with areas of tighter curls may need extra moisture and perhaps a butter sealant that won't be ideal for the loose curls. In addition, you may need to have more patience detangling coarser areas of the hair than you will when dealing with looser hair sections; you can apply product accordingly.

Style for consistency
Styles such as wet sets, rod sets, twist-outs, and braid-outs can help blend the multiple textures. For some, the difference in curl pattern (and therefore length due to shrinkage) can be severe. These styles can allow more consistency and won’t make the multiple textures as noticeable. For loose curl patterns, try a twist out and rod the ends with a perm rod. Even though the hair is loose, the tight curly ends can help blend in with the other textures of your hair. You might also try an updo style, which allows you to tuck in your hair's unruly strands.

Acceptance is the first step
While learning to better manage multiple textures of your hair, acceptance becomes essential. Our textured curls are what make us stand out, so embrace 'em proudly.

4 Tips For Getting Gorgeous Eyebrows

Statement brows have been making a bold appearance on the runway and red carpet, complementing every look and complexion. Meticulously sculpted or wild and full, brows have a way of silently conveying emotion, whether commanding attention while arched in surprise or furrowed in concentration. Seem like reason enough to get in on the brow game? Ahead, four tips for making over your own arches.

Keep Them Well Brushed
This is the easiest and most overlooked way to groom your brows. Brushing them in an upward motion will reveal their ideal shape and instantly lift the face. Set brows in place using a brow gel or wax, clear mascara, or even a little bit of hairspray on a spoolie. If you don't have a spoolie, you can wash an old mascara wand with dish soap and turn it into a perfect eyebrow brush.

Fill Them In
There are several different ways to add depth and opacity to your eyebrows. Depending on the day, I go back and forth between brow pencils, or powder color and an angled brush. First, brush the brows upward to see where there are holes. When opting for a pencil, I like to choose one that has a very fine tip and apply using small strokes to mimic actual hairs. An angled brush and powder will give a slightly heavier look, which you can combat by working the product into your brows with a spoolie. One thing that's worth noting: You can absolutely never brush your brows too much.
While you are filling in your eyebrows, you can continue to brush them. Choose a color that is one shade lighter than your eyebrow shade to achieve a natural look. If you find that you applied too much powder, try gently pressing on the brow with your clean fingertip to soften the look.

Go Bold & Dye
Whether bleaching your brows to achieve a cool ‘90s look or adding a darker color to beef them up, dyeing your eyebrows can really change your face. Brunettes and redheads should stick to a color slightly lighter than the hair on their head. Blondes can amp up the drama by either opting for a deeper color or bleaching them to achieve a more harmonious look with golden strands. It's probably better to visit a beauty professional for this service instead of doing it on your own. A less permanent option would be a tinted brow gel, such as Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel, that will add color and texture to the brow without the commitment.

Stop Over-Grooming
Tweezing, trimming, threading, waxing, electrolysis...there are so many ways you can over-tame your eyebrows. With the trends constantly changing, it’s best to opt for grooming techniques that aren’t permanent. Natural brows are back in a big way, and the bolder the better. My rule of thumb? As long as there are two of them, you can’t go wrong. Using a pair of tweezers, gently pluck any strays that are going rogue and you are good to go.
